At Jerry Green Dog Rescue, every rescue dog’s journey is made possible by the incredible people who generously give their time, compassion and dedication to helping dogs in need.
From caring for dogs at our rescue centres and supporting our charity shops, to helping at fundraising events and working behind the scenes, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their support ensures dogs feel safe, build confidence, receive the care they need, and eventually find the loving forever homes they deserve.
This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the amazing individuals who make that possible every single day. Whether you already volunteer with us, or you’re considering volunteering with dogs for the first time, it’s an opportunity to recognise the life-changing impact volunteers have across rescue charities.

In 2025 alone:
In the first three months of this year, our volunteers contributed almost 6,000 hours of their time; raising vital funds, supporting our teams, providing care for our four-legged friends, and ensuring our charity shops thrive.
The support volunteers provide allows us to focus more of our resources where they’re needed most; making sure every vulnerable dog receives the care, safety, and chance to start again
Della began volunteering at our brand-new North Hykeham charity shop in March 2026. From day one, she became a valued part of the retail team, helping create a warm and welcoming experience to support the growing community of retail shops.
Whether she’s chatting to customers on the till, sorting donations, or helping wherever needed, Della’s time and dedication help raise vital funds to support the dogs in our care.
After losing her own four-legged companions, volunteering with Jerry Green Dog Rescue became a meaningful way for Della to give back to a cause close to her heart, knowing every sale helps rescue dogs in need.
Della particularly enjoys being part of a friendly team environment and building connections within the local community. Her story is a wonderful reminder that volunteering doesn’t just make a difference to rescue dogs – it can also bring purpose, connection and fulfilment to the people who give their time so generously.
Our community of dog foster carers open their homes and hearts to dogs in need, giving a little extra TLC to those who need it most.
Rocky and Lottie, a bonded pair of Husky Crosses, arrived in our care needing patience, reassurance and stability. Thanks to one of our dedicated foster families, they were able to experience life in a loving home environment while waiting for their forever family.
After nearly three months in foster care, Rocky and Lottie found their perfect forever home together. It’s thanks to our incredible community of dog foster carers that dogs like Rocky and Lottie can feel safe, understood and ready for adoption.

A dog foster carer provides a temporary home for a rescue dog while they wait for their forever family. Foster carers help dogs settle into home life, build confidence, recover from surgery, and receive extra support outside of a kennel environment.
No. Jerry Green Dog Rescue covers all costs associated with your foster dog’s care, including food, bedding, toys, equipment, and veterinary treatment. Our expert team will also support you throughout the fostering journey.
Every volunteer helps us provide life-changing care to dogs in need. The time volunteers give allows us to focus more resources on veterinary treatment, behavioural support, enrichment, rehabilitation, and helping dogs safely transition into loving forever homes.
