Step 1: Meet Our Dogs
Browse our adoption pages and see our rescue dogs currently available for adoption. Read about them, their personalities and what they are looking for in their new home – each one is waiting for a second chance.
Find out how we help match you with your future best friend and what to expect when you adopt a dog from Jerry Green Dog Rescue
To us, every dog is unique and worth fighting for, so we don’t take a one-size fits all approach when it comes to adoption.
Some dogs come to live with us at our rehoming centres whilst they wait for a new home. Others stay with their current owner until the right match is found, if that’s what’s best for them and we call this Home from Home®.
Simply, we do what works best for each individual dog, helping to reduce stress where possible and giving us a better understanding of their personality and needs. Whether a dog is in one of our rehoming centres or on our Home from Home® scheme, they receive the same level of care, including health checks, vaccinations, microchipping and any treatments they might need. If a dog you’re looking to adopt is on our Home from Home®, we still fully manage the adoption process, arranging meets at our rehoming centres or a mutually agreed neutral location, and ensuring that current owners and adopters do not need to be in direct contact.
When it comes to any adoption, we carefully match each dog with the right person or family using our Meet&Match® approach. Our priority is always to make sure both you and the dog are happy and set up for a great life together.

If you see a dog you feel could be right for you, or even if you’re still exploring, you can complete an application or enquiry form. If we think you could be a good match, we’ll give you a call to discuss your application in more detail. We’ll discuss your experience with dogs, the type of dog you’re looking for and how they will fit into your lifestyle.
Armed with the information you gave us; if we have a match for you, we’d invite you for a meet in one of our Meet&Match® rooms. We’ll take the time to make sure you find your forever friend so this could involve several meets. Once we know that you and a dog are the perfect match, we’ll work with you to create a plan for rehoming.
We create each dog and potential adopter a personalised journey through our Meet&Match® scheme, meaning you can request to meet your dog as many times as you need. This gives you the chance to really get to know your dog before bringing them home. We will be on hand if required to support the dog settling in, and ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for everyone.
Once you and your dog are ready and confident that you have found a perfect match, we’ll officially finalise the adoption with you. Finalising an adoption is a joint process between you and Jerry Green Dog Rescue to make sure everything is in place to start your lives together. As part of this, we’ll ask you to:
We’ll guide you through each step so you’ll be completely supported. This way, we can work together to make sure your new companion is officially and happily part of your family.
Then it’s time for you to start your new life together, you’ve just given a dog in need a safe and loving home!
Our support doesn’t stop once you take your new friend home.
We’ll check in with you during the first few weeks to see how things are going and offer any advice you might need. You can reach out to us at any time, we’re here for you and your dog for the long term, and once you’ve adopted, you become part of the Jerry Green family for life.
We also love to catch up with our dogs and their new owners, so please feel free to visit us. Don’t forget, we have onsite shops and offer both boarding and paddock hire at our rehoming centres which might be helpful to you in the future too.
Our Meet&Match® dog rehoming process is based on pioneering research we conducted with the University of Lincoln. Meet&Match® allows adopters to find a dog that suits their lifestyle, starting the journey to a happy and fulfilling life together, all while improving the welfare of the dogs in our care. We are exceptionally proud that similar processes have been adopted by rescue centres all over the UK, since its launch in 2008.

Many of our dogs come to stay with us at one of our rehoming centres while they wait to find their new home.
While they’re here, our experienced team gets to know them really well, from their personality and preferences to the kind of home they’ll thrive in. They receive daily care, enrichment, exercise, and all the health checks and treatments they need.
If you’re invited for a meet, you’ll be able to meet them in a calm, supported environment, with our team on hand to guide you and answer any questions. This helps us make sure it’s the right match for both you and the dog.
Every dog’s situation is unique. For some, remaining in their current home until we can find a new family is the best option. Home from Home® not only reduces stress, but it also allows us to get a truer sense of your dog’s personality, helping us to find the right match for their new home.
Whether your dog is rehomed through our Home from Home® scheme or through our centres, our dedicated team supports both the original owner and the adopter throughout, with the dog’s wellbeing always our top priority. Find out more below.
