We’re less than two months away from the return of 60 Miles in May, a month-long virtual fundraising event that challenges you to move your way for rescue dogs in need – that’s just two miles a day!
You can choose how to complete your miles, whether that’s walking, wheeling, running, or even cycling!
By participating in 60 Miles in May, you’ll become part of our dog-loving community who help give a second chance to dogs who’ve been abandoned, neglected, or mistreated. It’s the perfect fundraising challenge for dog lovers.
Last year’s participants raised an incredible £8,083 to support the dogs in our care. This year we’re once again asking our wonderful supporters to move their way to support dogs in need.
One of our incredible participants of 2025’s challenge was Sharon, a long time Jerry Green Dog Rescue supporter, and adopter. Here’s what she had to say about why she chose to take on the challenge:
“I will always do what I can to make a difference. I owe dogs so much for what they have given me and what they continue to give me. That’s why me and Alfie took part in 60 Miles in May, to help the dogs who need the protection, love, and care given by Jerry Green Dog Rescue until they find their happy ending.”
Ty, a sweet 10-year-old Labrador came into our care when his family unfortunately couldn’t meet his needs in his senior years. With his owners caring for their elderly Mother, and Ty still being full of energy, his humans made the difficult decision to find Ty a new home, where he could have all the attention he deserved.
Following the sudden change in his circumstances, Ty became extremely stressed in the kennels. He paced and panted, waiting for human comfort. Thanks to our incredible supporters, Ty could be placed in a foster home where he received all of the love, care, and resources he needed whilst he waited patiently for a forever home.
After two months in foster, Ty’s happy ending finally arrived. Ty’s perfect family travelled three hours to meet him, and took just three minutes to fall in love with him. One week later, he went off to his forever home where he has since settled beautifully, claiming his spot on his new sofa.
It took a while to find Ty’s perfect match, but it was well worth the wait. By taking part in 60 Miles in May, you ensure dogs like Ty have a comfy bed, a nutritious diet, and the extra support they need while they wait for a forever home.
You won’t be alone throughout the challenge to support dogs like Ty. Once you have signed up, you will be invited to join our 60 Miles in May Facebook group, where you’ll meet your fellow fundraisers to stay motivated, inspire each other, and most importantly, have lots of fun!
Sharon shares, “I’d urge anyone to take part in 60 Miles in May. You will be improving your physical and mental health while you complete your miles. Also, you will join the challenge Facebook group which is full of other participants sharing updates on their progress, and photos of their dogs.”
Each mile you complete will contribute towards giving a second chance to dogs who’ve been abandoned, neglected, or mistreated.
Sharon is confident that “by taking part in this challenge, you will feel the warmth in your own heart, knowing you have helped to make a difference to dogs who desperately need help.”
