Leave a gift in your Will

A gift in a Will is a charitable donation left in your Will to the cause you care about – like Jerry Green Dog Rescue. It can be a percentage of your estate, a specific amount of money, or a specific item. It may also be referred to as leaving a legacy to charity. 

A residuary gift is a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid. You can leave a share of your estate to a single beneficiary or divide it among multiple individuals or causes using percentages, for example 1% to Jerry Green Dog Rescue. 

A pecuniary gift in a Will is a fixed sum of money, for example £20,000.  

Pecuniary gifts are always welcome and deeply appreciated. However, because they are fixed amounts, they may not keep pace with inflation over time, which means the value of your gift could reduce in the future.

• Update your existing Will with a Codicil (a legal amendment). Codicils are suitable for simple changes, such as leaving money to charity in your Will. 

• Make a new Will that replaces your old one. This is often recommended if you are making several changes or if your current Will is out of date.

• Full legal name 

• Registered address 

• Registered charity number 

• What type of gift you want to leave  

• Whether you want your gift to be used for a specific purpose
