About me

Hi, I’m Kai! 🐾 I’m a very sweet little Cockapoo boy weighing just 9kg, and I’m on the lookout for a new family who would love nothing more than having a little shadow following them around the house!

I’ve been with my previous family since I was a tiny puppy, and sadly, due to their health, they could no longer give me the care I needed. I’ve clearly been a very loved boy, and although it’s a big change for me, I’m now settling into foster care and beginning to find my paws again.

If you’re looking for a companion who will be right by your side, I could be just the chap for you! I’m what you might call a velcro dog, as I love being close to my humans at all times. In fact, just being in the same room isn’t quite enough for me. I like to be touching you whenever possible, whether that means leaning against your legs, snuggling up beside you on the sofa or resting my little body against you while you work. I’m happiest when I know my favourite people are close by, so if you’re looking for a little cuddle companion, I could be your perfect match!

Having access to the sofa for cuddles is a must for me, and although I’m used to sleeping in my crate overnight, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I tried to convince you that your bed would be much cosier! My foster mum has also discovered that I’m quite the little tea enthusiast. I absolutely LOVE a cuppa and, given half the chance, I’d happily try to drink the whole thing myself! So, if you’re a tea drinker, you’ll need to keep your mug safely out of my reach.

As much as I love my humans, being apart from them can be difficult for me. I haven’t had much experience of being left alone, as my previous family rarely left me, and I’m not currently comfortable with spending time on my own. Because of this, I’m looking for someone who works from home and can have me for company throughout the day. I’ll need an understanding family who can help me gradually learn that it’s okay to be apart sometimes, building up any time alone very slowly and at a pace I can cope with. I’m a little dog with a lot of love to give, but I’ll need your help and patience to feel secure when you’re not right beside me.

My previous family couldn’t manage taking me out on walks, so they would pop me in the car and take me to a nature reserve a couple of times a week, where I could have a good run around before heading home again. I’m still figuring out this lead-walking business, but I’m making progress in foster care. There’s a whole world out there for me to explore!

When it comes to other dogs, I enjoy spending time with suitable doggy friends out and about. I’m currently living with another dog in foster care, but for my forever home, I need to be the only dog in the household so I can have all the fuss and attention to myself. This doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy meeting canine friends on walks or having a good run around with them in a secure field. I can still have plenty of opportunities to socialise with other dogs, but I’ll need a home where I’m the only dog living with you!

I’ll admit, I can get a little overexcited when I’m pleased to see you, and I do have a habit of jumping up to say hello! If you give me a little time and don’t make a big fuss when I’m bouncing about, I can settle down nicely. I’m not always the most confident boy, and I can be a little appeasing, so a gentle approach, patience and understanding will help me feel safe and build my confidence. I also find meeting new people a little easier when we’re out and about, where there’s less pressure on me, rather than having everyone come straight over to say hello.

I’m a housetrained lad and will let you know when I need to pop outside by barking at the back door. I’m also used to regular trips to the groomers every six weeks, so keeping me looking like the handsome little doodle I am is already part of my routine. I’m castrated, microchipped and up to date with my vaccinations, too.

For my new home, I’m looking for a secure garden with fencing at least 6ft high, where I can whizz about and enjoy some outdoor time. I could potentially share my home with suitably housed small animals who can be kept safely separate. Children aged 11 and over would be best, although we could be flexible for the right family, as I can get excitable and find it difficult to settle when little ones are running around.

Above all, I’m looking for someone who wants a little companion in the truest sense of the word. I’ll be your shadow, your sofa snuggler and your little work-from-home colleague, always ready to offer a cuddle whenever you need one. I do need a home where I won’t be expected to manage being left alone before I’m ready, and where I can have time to build my confidence and learn at my own pace. In return, you’ll have a very loving little chap who simply wants to be part of your everyday life. Just remember to keep your tea out of my reach!

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please complete an application by clicking the “apply to rehome this dog” button below. It’s really important that you fill in your application in as much detail as possible, as this helps the team learn all about your experience, your lifestyle and the kind of home you could offer me. The more you can tell them, the better they can understand whether we might be the right match for each other.

Could you be the person I’ve been waiting for? ❤️
