Lady is our poster girl for our Veterinary Support Scheme. Here is her story;

Lady, a beautiful and very much loved Cocker Spaniel, swallowed a sock, causing a catastrophic obstruction which without surgery would have been fatal. Her loving owners were facing an unimaginable choice, surrender their precious pet to rescue to save her life, or have her put to sleep. They contacted our East Yorkshire Community Support Manager for help, it was apparent that Lady was in a wonderful home where she was very much loved, and up until this freak accident was living a wonderful life. Coming into rescue to be rehomed clearly would not be in her best interests. We were delighted to be able to make a contribution towards her surgery, to allow her to remain with her family, and she has since fully recovered. Paws off the socks in future, Lady!

If like Lady, your dog has an unexpected mishap that requires veterinary treatment which you are struggling to afford, we may be able to help. We can offer one-off grants of up to £500 towards veterinary bills for one off incidents, such as your dog swallows a sock. Each request is judged on a case by case basis and any offer of support is paid directly to your vet following the agreed procedure. Our support is not means tested and there is no judgement, we just want to help dogs be happy and healthy!

Support is available across the four regions in which we serve.  Please contact your closest centre and ask them about our 'Veterinary Support Scheme.'
