Meet Martha (Now Raven)

Let's take a moment to reflect back to the start of 2023, with the first emergency intake of the year at our North Lincolnshire centre. Sadly, the first of many across our three centres, but Martha's story is one that will stay with many of us.

Poor, emaciated Martha arrived at Jerry Green Dog Rescue with her ten small, underweight, itchy, and worm-infested puppies. Incredibly, Martha had given birth to sixteen puppies, but tragically, six didn't survive before she came into our care. We knew we had to step in and help, despite facing one unwanted litter after another. Martha's body showed the toll that motherhood had taken on her, with every bone and rib visible. Even nursing her hungry pups was painful. The puppies, around six weeks old, were small for their breed and very hungry. With a few nutritious meals, they quickly transformed into bright, energetic puppies, a testament to Martha's loving care. One little pup needed extra attention, visibly weaker and smaller than the others. He fought bravely, received around-the-clock care, and showed a feisty personality. Small but mighty, indeed!

We're thrilled to report that Raven, as Martha is now known, has found a wonderful forever family. She loves nothing more than playing with a football and her new humans, as well as her toys, at least those that don't get dissected first! Raven's new family absolutely adores her, and they're grateful to have her in their lives. They say, "We're glad we got so lucky (adopting Raven). Thank you to all the staff at Jerry Green Dog Rescue for all your help and for letting us have this beautiful girl in our lives." Finally, Raven has a home filled with love, play, and family life.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide the care that Raven and her puppies needed and be there for them when they needed us the most. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of dogs in need and ensure they find the happy endings they deserve.
