This is a key role as first impressions and a friendly welcome to everyone who contacts Jerry Green Dog Rescue is important. What will you be doing? It can range from various tasks, from building enrichment treats for our dogs, laundry or tidy up our visiting areas. Tasks around the centres to support the welfare team. Working as part of a team and making new friends. Any other tasks relating to this role. This role is super flexible to suit you and where possible we will include interaction with our dogs. What skills and attributes do I need? Our dogs come into our care for many reasons, some with complex needs. We therefore do kindly ask that volunteers who wish to have contact with the dogs have first three attributes listed below. You must be able to volunteer alone, or volunteer as part of a team. Good communication skills, including using communicating with the wider team via radios Have experience of dog behaviour You will enjoy talking to people and building rapport. Be empathetic and non-judgemental when dealing with customers who have come to hand their dogs into rescue, or are enquiring about doing so. The ability to be polite and courteous at all times. To be honest, reliable and punctual. You must be able to maintain confidentiality. Have a commitment to our core principles and procedures which will be explained. Some of our sites are not on a public transport network, so you may need to have your own transport. Please check with your local centre if this could be an issue for you. How much time do I need to commit? Ideally a few hours a week. What support will I be given? You will go through a full induction to the role We will provide you with continuous support and guidance.
