Sammy When Sammy came into our care we instantly fell in love with him! He had the waggiest of tails, that made his bottom shake in the most adorable way! He was so affectionate with everyone he met. A gorgeous boy with a big heart and so much love to give! Although Sammy was so gleeful in his interactions with us, we knew that he was in some discomfort. It was apparent within his appearance that he had a cluster of small fatty lumps around his left eye and another developing within the eyelid of his right eye. As well an external lump on the skin surface on his leg. All of which the vet recommended that he undergo surgery to remove. Sammy also appeared to be a little stiff in his back legs, which the vets diagnosed as arthritis. Upon their recommendation, we began a treatment programme of supplements to relieve the symptoms. Due to our sweet boy’s caring nature and love of being around people he struggled to settle when alone in his kennel. We knew that he wished to be in a family environment as soon as possible. It wasn’t long before an opportunity for Sammy to have a temporary family to live with came into fruition. One of our foster parents, who is also a member of staff within our fundraising team, met Sammy and instantly knew that she could provide that temporary home, and to care for him until his forever family came along. Sammy had the surgery required, and recovered very well from the procedure in a comfy home, with the help of his foster family’s dog; who kept a nurturing, watchful eye on him during his recovery period and gave him plenty of snuggles and friendly nose boops to say ‘You doing ok pal!?” It wasn’t long after his surgery that Sammy began his journey into his forever home. An amazing, loving family couldn’t wait to give him a home to call his own! After a virtual Meet&Match®, and a home stay as a ‘foster to adopt’ placement, it was clear that they were a match made in heaven. The gorgeous boy had found his forever home and was soon officially adopted! Although he was a little overwhelmed by his new surroundings to start with, Sammy quickly found his feet and has settled in so well. He’s been going on plenty of countryside walks and went to the beach for the first time, which he thoroughly enjoyed! He loves everyone he meets, dogs and humans! He’s made so many friends, including a very special playmate called Molly, a gorgeous Shih Tzu. They absolutely love going on walks and playing together! Sammy’s family say that he is getting so much stronger and less stiff in his back legs. We know that this is due to all the love, care and exercise he is getting as well as his owner taking him to hydrotherapy sessions, all of which has helped build up his muscle. We are thrilled to see the pictures that his family have shared with us! He is truly living his best life and looks so happy and healthy! We hear that Sammy is currently on holiday, having a stay-cation in the lakes in Northumberland to soak up some scenery! We can’t wait to hear all about it! His mum Alex said “having Sammy in the house has made it a home”. We could not be happier for you Sammy, and thank you Alex and family for the wonderful home and life you are giving him! We want to be there for all the dogs like Sammy that need our help, whilst we help find them their ‘happily ever afters’ for many more years to come. If you could help us to do this, we, and all of our Jerry Green dogs, would be so grateful. You can simply TEXT JERRY to 70201 to donate £1 towards our vital work, or perhaps consider sponsoring a kennel at your local centre for just £1 per week. Thank you.
