The following is an announcement from Sue Bloomfield, Chief Executive Officer for Jerry Green Dog Rescue:

As we approach our 60th Anniversary the sustainability of Jerry Green Dog Rescue is increasingly at the forefront our minds. As is widely known, the Covid-19 pandemic is having a big effect on charities and we are not immune to that; this is compounded by the fact that our business planning has been based on investment in income generation to balance our spending with our annual income. We have had the resources to support deficit budgets historically but this cannot go on indefinitely, especially with the uncertainty on income that all charities are now facing. Therefore, our focus must be on taking action to reverse this position.

As an organisation we are committed to building a future for Jerry Green Dog Rescue that will endure not just the current crisis, but will build a sustainable organisation for many years to come. Accordingly, we are commencing a strategic review of all our operations and consulting with all our staff to create a plan that eliminates our budget deficit and safeguards the future of the charity in these uncertain times. Whilst we cannot guarantee there will be no job losses or centre closures, we will do all we can to retain the Jerry Green base across the area and continue to rescue and rehome dogs to local families as we have done since 1961.

We know we are not the only charity facing big financial challenges but it still saddens us deeply to be in this position. Every bit of support or donations will help us plan for the future; plus, we have committed staff, volunteers and supporters who can help us on this difficult journey as we strive to continue our support of dogs across the counties of Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

We will be developing new initiatives at our North Lincolnshire site and we are also bringing together a programme of volunteer development and recognition to support and recognise the army of wonderful people that we have the honour of working with. Together we can build a Jerry Green Dog Rescue that will continue to rescue and rehome dogs to local families for the next 60 years and beyond.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Jerry Green Dog Rescue.
