This short tale is about the very handsome Jack Russel Terrier x Pug, Harry. Harry, aged 8, arrived at our Nottinghamshire centre as a stray in November 2022. During his stay with us, Harry loved hurtling around in the paddocks and getting fuss from our dedicated staff and volunteers. Harry sadly struggled with the kennel environment, and found it stressful. Fortunately, he found a foster home which meant he could carry on his rehoming journey in the comfort of a home.

Thankfully for Harry, it wasn’t long before he met his ‘pawfect’ family! Steve and Denise were looking for a companion dog for their 13-year-old Patterdale Terrier, Stan. Sadly, his faithful companion had passed away the previous year, and the time was right to open their home to another rescue dog. Denise stumbled across Harry on our website and instantly fell in love with his picture! She knew they had to come to meet him. Within minutes of entering our training barn on their first Meet&Match® visit, Denise was on the floor with Harry, who was absolutely as smitten as she was. Being new to Jerry Green Dog Rescue, they weren’t sure what to expect, but Steve described their adoption process as simple and easy – he couldn’t praise our team enough!

Since settling in at home, Harry is making progress with his training and loves to snuggle up next to Stan in the evening. In his free time, Harry is becoming quite the keen gardener, ‘helping’ dig plenty of holes for all the spring planting. What a clever boy! When asked what Steve loved the most about Harry, he answered, “his character! He is boisterous in all the best ways and loves being the centre of attention. If he wants your attention, he will pat your hand with his paw until he gets stroked. He also moves his body so you can get just the right spot too.”

We are thrilled that Harry has found a fantastic home with an amazing family.
