Position: Grant and Trust Fundraiser

Hours: 16 hours per week

Location: Broughton, Brigg, North Lincolnshire, DN20 0BJ

We are seeking to recruit an individual who will play a key role in developing sustainable income via grant and trust applications. We are looking for an organised individual who is driven to produce high quality application bids. As part of this team you will identify funding for life changing services and play a key role in changing the lives of rescue dogs.

Main Purpose of the Job:

Jerry Green Dog rescue is investing in this new fundraising position with the aim of building relationships with Trust and Grant Funders. The aim of the role will be to diversify streams of revenue in order to allow Jerry Green Dog Rescue to continue its vital work.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for Trust and Grant Fundraising Income targets.
  • Develop and maintain potential and actual funding relationships with Trusts and Foundations.
  • Research, identify, produce and submit high quality funding bids.
  • Co-ordinate between JGDR Services to supply feedback reports.
  • Develop financial and descriptive content and data for use in bids. 

Expectations: 

  • To prepare and submit application bids with support of the Fundraising Manager.
  • To initiate and develop external relationships with grant making Trusts.
  • To network with external providers to generate opportunities for JGDR.
  • To use a variety of research methods.
  • To highlight funding opportunities.
  • To use exceptional communication skills and engage directly with individuals where appropriate.
  • To obtain and record contact details for any or all relationships established.
  • To collate internal statistical information.
  • To support grant and trust applications.
  • To assist the CEO and Senior Management Team in providing up to date data analysis.
  • To generate and report upon income and investment of grant making trusts.
  • To communicate internally with JGDR representatives.
  • To ensure that restricted grants income is used effectively and in accordance with application guidelines.
  • To liaise with, and convey information to, the finance and data teams, to ensure that financial obligations are met.
  • To ensure that all paperwork relating to grant applications are stored in a formal and local manner.
  • To support the team and the wider organisation when required.
  • To ensure fundraising regulations are adhered to in relation to grant and trust fundraising.
  • To support the development of internal working practices and supporting peer training when required.
  • To successfully secure funding for all internal sections of JGDR. 

Qualifications & Training 

  • A level or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in fundraising, sales or account management, displaying an ability to achieve set targets/goals.
  • Vocational qualifications in Fundraising, Customer Service or Marketing (desirable) 

Understanding of the importance of ensuring of good dog welfare

  • Passionate about the welfare of dogs
  • Prepared to be trained as a Green Dog handler 

Organisational Development  

  • Effectively use IT applications including CRM
  • Maintains accurate information (databases, record keeping)
  • Ability to understand Gift Aid processes
  • Knowledge of print and online production processes
  • Basic knowledge of the core principles including brand representation and PR
  • Understanding of volunteer management and recruitment

  • Understands the importance of brand recognition
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation and evaluation skills
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills e.g. keeping suppliers, other teams and manager up to date
  • Good I.T. skills including data entry, web programmes Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative internal and external relationships
  • Ability to pick up new processes and tasks quickly and work independently

Funding, Finance & Enterprise 

  • Project managing/assisting a project manager to plan and deliver campaigns
  • Using personal contact, media and events and presentations to recruit, retain and develop supporters and volunteers
  • Able to create and tailor enticing, engaging and emotive copy for appeal letters, newsletters, etc.
  • An understanding of budgets, finance and fundraising.
