Why we need you  

To assist us in the day to day care of the dogs in our centre, making their stay as stress free as possible and enriching their time with us. Helping us to deliver each dog’s individual care plans and give our dogs the opportunity to relax, have one to one time, walk, play or have a day out. Because happier dogs, are usually dogs that are more quickly adopted.

What skills and attributes do I need?

  • You need to be a patient and a compassionate individual who loves dogs
  • Be honest and reliable
  • Have the ability to get along with people and work as part of a team
  • Possess a friendly and helpful manner
  • You must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • A commitment to our core principles and procedures (which will be explained to you)
  • Some of the tasks require fitness and mobility, as our dogs can be strong and enthusiastic, others do not.
  • Some of our sites are not on a public transport network, so you may need to have your own transport. Please check with your local centre if this could be an issue for you.

How much time do I need to commit?

Any time you can commit is invaluable to us. Ideally, we would like this role to be shared between three people who can each commit to two hours, a couple of times each week.

You will also be required to attend the volunteers meeting which takes place every quarter.

What support will I be given?

  • You will go through a full induction to the role
  • You will go through our training programme
  • We will provide you with continuous support and guidance
