Position: Direct Engagement Fundraiser

Jerry Green Dog Rescue is keen to recruit an experienced professional to develop, deliver and drive its first telephone fundraising initiative.  The aim of this role is to engage supporters, adopters and donors to generate income, ensuring we can continue to deliver vital and life changing services for stray and abandoned dogs without a home.  You will work as part of a dedicated and experienced team in an exciting fast paced environment.  We are looking to recruit an individual with exceptional communication skills, a driven attitude and ability to work well under pressure.

Main Purpose of the Job:

We are seeking to recruit an individual with exceptional communication skills and a proven track record in telephone fundraising or sales. Jerry Green Dog Rescue (JGDR) seeks to launch its first telephone fundraising campaign in 2021 and develop an income generating door to door fundraising initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to take the next step in their career, gaining project management and leadership skills, with the opportunity to improve the lives of rescue dogs with every call.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  1. To generate income through excellent communication and awareness sharing activities, building our regular giving audience.
  2. To support the development of key systems and protocols, ensuring compliance with the Institute of Fundraising: Code of Conduct and Fundraising Regulations.
  3. To directly engage with residents in surrounding communities to raise awareness of our regular giving and sponsorship offers.
  4. To recruit and train a team of volunteers to generate income and increase opportunities for donor activity.
  5. To represent Jerry Green Dog Rescue as a first point of contact, promoting our key mission and values.
  6. To be a goal orientated individual with a drive to achieve targets and work towards key performance indicators.
  7. To provide support to other functions and departments within JGDR when required.
  8. To maintain and build comprehensive, accurate donor data using our CRM database: Raisers Edge, maintaining compliance with GDPR Regulations.
  9. To compile monthly reporting data to inform your line manager of your outputs, reporting quarterly against budget.
  10. Emphasis will be placed on encouraging donors to register as a Gift Aid Donor, you will meet all required targets within this key area.
  11. To play a key role in the development of the case for support for communication campaigns, writing and scripting emotionally engaging content.
  12. To undertake any identified training as required or prosed by your manager, and take a key role in your own personal development bringing appropriate training to the attention of your manager.
  13. To take an active role in your own professional development, providing reflective reports for your individual performance reviews and other employee engagement opportunities.
  14. To remain professional at all times showing emotional resilience and empathy.
  15. To work in close collaboration with the Fundraising Team manager on joint fundraising targets and planning, and maintain excellent communications between the Centres and Central Office on fundraising activity.
  16. To contribute to the planning and delivery of national campaigns.
  17. Ensure accurate donor management data is entered on to the Raiser’s Edge database.

 Expectations:

  • To contribute to newsletters, publications, PR, education and marketing objectives and provide regular content to Central office for marketing and social media to increase our engagement with adopters, supporters and donors online.
  • To respond to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers etc (by phone, mail and in person) including responding to requests for information and material etc.
  • Contribute to business, marketing and communications plans to support existing and instigate new, cost-effective events and community fundraising initiatives, new services and enterprise initiatives.

Employee Specification:

 Qualifications & Training 

  • A level or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in fundraising, sales or account management, displaying an ability to achieve set targets/goals.
  • Vocational qualifications in Fundraising, Customer Service or Sales (desirable).

Understanding of the importance of ensuring of good dog welfare

  • Passionate about the welfare of dogs

Organisational Development   

  • Effectively use IT applications including CRM
  • Maintains accurate information (databases, record keeping)
  • Ability to understand Gift Aid processes
  • Basic knowledge of the core principles including brand representation and PR
  • Understanding of volunteer management and recruitment

Funding, Finance & Enterprise 

  • Project managing/assisting a project manager to plan and deliver campaigns
  • Using personal contact, media and events and presentations to recruit, retain and develop supporters and volunteers
  • Able to create and tailor enticing, engaging and emotive copy for appeal letters, newsletters, etc.
  • An understanding of budgets, finance and fundraising.
