Why we need you?       

Running a successful Jerry Green Dog Rescue store requires a great team of enthusiastic and passionate volunteers and you could be part of it! Our volunteers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and bring a wide variety of skills to the organisation. They come together to generate vital funds, that enables us to continue our work in finding forever homes for the dogs in our care.

What's involved?                       

  • Testing electrical appliances to make sure they meet the required standards, to enable them to be sold in our Charity stores
  • If you are using our premises- maintaining the testing environment in a clean, tidy and orderly fashion
  • Working as part of a team and making new friends

What skills and attributes do I need?

You must possess an appropriate electrical qualification such as the City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate for In-Service Inspections and Testing of Electrical Equipment Course and a familiarity with the Institution of Electrical Engineers or IEE Code of Practice, along with your own testing equipment.

You must also:

  • Be a competent person as defined in page 13 of the IEE Code of Practice 3rd edition
  • Possess adequate knowledge of electricity and experience of electrical work
  • Have adequate understanding of the system to be worked on and practical experience of that class of system
  • Have an understanding of the hazards that can arise during the work and precautions that need to be taken
  • Have the ability to recognise at all times whether it is safe for work to continue
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to get along with people and work as part of a team
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Have a commitment to our core principles and procedures
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will enjoy talking to people and building rapport
  • You must be honest and reliable
  • Have the ability to get along with people and work as part of a team
  • A friendly and helpful manner

How much time do I need to commit?

Any time you can commit is valuable to us and we are happy to discuss your availability.

However, we would generally ask for a commitment of around one morning or afternoon per month. The shops are open from Monday-Saturday.

What support will I be given?

  • You will go through a full induction to the role
  • You will go through a risk assessment to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
  • You will be trained in every aspect of your role, including our equality and diversity policies
  • We will provide you with continuous support and guidance in order that you feel confident in the role.
