We'd like to reassure all of our supporters that our top priority is as always to care for our rescue dogs. Throughout this worrying time our dedicated teams will continue to provide life changing care, support and love to every dog across our 5 centres. But in order to do this and keep our teams and our supporters who visit us safe and healthy, there are some necessary measures and significant changes we need to make to the way we operate.

Please read below to find out about what we have to put in place to protect everyone and how our operations and services are being affected during this uncertain period.

As you will read, this new way of working will cause a huge disruption to not only our ability to provide services that generate money for us, but also to our fundraising ability. We'd be really grateful if you could support us by making a donation to our COVID-19 appeal to help our furry friends without a home during this difficult time and to keep us operating.

We're also here to help you - we've put together some fun activities and online events for you and your family to get involved in to keep you smiling. All of these resources are offered completely free of charge, in the hope they will help you and your dogs through this stressful time. Visit our COVID-19 page to have a look.

If you do find them useful, we hope you will consider making a small donation to support us and our dogs through this trying period.

Finally, we’d also like to say a big thank you to you, our supporters, our volunteers and fosterers for your continued support and patience during this difficult time. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

For more information on the virus and to find out how you can protect yourself, visit the NHS website.

Our centres

Our centres are doing everything they can to ensure their teams and the members of the public who visit them remain safe. We have had to close to the public but we have started rehoming again following permission from DEFRA. We’re rehoming in line with the Canine & Feline Sector Group and social distancing guidelines to ensure our staff and adopters remain safe. We’re loving being able to find those dogs suitable for social distancing rehoming their forever homes.

Please do not visit any centre unless you have contacted the centre before hand to make them aware of your visit and they have given you permission to do so.

If you have any donations for our dogs, please leave them outside the centre or hold on to them for the time being. If you need to contact one of our centres their details can be found here.

Field hire

Field/paddock hire at all of our centres is going to be ceased with immediate effect. If you have made a booking, our centres will be in touch to cancel and/or rearrange your booking. Alternatively, you can contact them on the details found here.

Boarding and day care

It is with regret that we have had to make the decision to close our boarding facilities until the end of April and we will be reviewing all future bookings on a monthly basis, adhering to government advice. All of those that have bookings coming up will be contacted by the centre. If you have a query in regards to any future bookings you have, please contact our North Lincolnshire centre on 01652 653343.

As we are following the Government and NHS guidelines on social distancing and protecting vulnerable people, we will be stopping all volunteering on our sites, at our events and in our shops for the time being.

We are also unable to accept any applications for new volunteers at the current time. There will be updates to our volunteering pages when this situation changes, so please keep checking back.

Once we are back up and running again as normal, please don’t hesitate to apply. You can find out more and download an application form on our volunteering pages.

If you would like any more information, please contact the centre you volunteer. Details for our centres can be found here.

Our charity shops

To protect the health and wellbeing of the general public, our customers and our volunteers we have decided to close our charity shops for the time being.

The shops will be closed from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice. During this time, we are asking you politely to hold on to any items you would like to donate to our shops until we are back open.

Unfortunately, we cannot take on any new foster families at the moment. This is because we have to do home visits to adhere to our insurance policies and we cannot facilitate this currently due to Covid-19.

There will be updates to our ‘Fostering a dog’ page when this situation changes, so please keep checking back. Once we are back up and running again as normal, please don’t hesitate to apply. You can find out more and download an application form on our fostering page.

If you are already a fosterer for us, we will be continuing to offer you the support you need for the dog you have in your care. To minimise the amount of face-to-face contact we are having, our centres will be contacting every active fosterer (who is caring for one of our dogs) via phone and email to check you are okay and to discuss the dog in your care.

If we need to deliver items to your home for the dog like food, medicine etc. we will leave the items outside your home or in a designated place of your choosing for you to collect.

If you have any further questions about the dog you’re fostering, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the centre you foster for. Details for our centres can be found here.

We've made the decision to put a hold on all of the training services we offer to ensure you and our team stay safe. Our trainers will be in touch to rearrange any 1-2-1 appointments and classes with all those who have booked onto a course.

We've made the decision to put a hold on all of the grooming services we offer at our North Lincolnshire and Nottingham centres to ensure you and our team stay safe. Our groomers will be in touch with you to rearrange any grooming appointments you have booked.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the government stipulations regarding public gatherings, Glastonjerry will be suspended until further notice.

Glastonjerry is a highlight of our events calendar and all of us here at Jerry Green Dog Rescue are deeply saddened by the situation.

On behalf of Jerry Green Dog Rescue and Newstead Abbey we would like to assure you that every effort will be made to continue to provide Glastonjerry in the future, when it is safe to do so.

Our centres receive no government funding and rely heavily on events such as Glastonjerry to raise funds to provide essential care for our dogs. The suspension of the event is a huge loss for us at Jerry Green Dog Rescue and ask, if at all possible, please continue to support us and provide donations to help our dogs through these unsettling times:

To donate £1 text JERRY to 70201
To donate £3, text JERRY to 70331
To donate £5, text JERRY to 70970
To donate £10, text JERRY to 70191

Fundraising, payments and donations will be processed and administered by the National Funding Scheme (Charity No: 1149800), operating as DONATE. Texts will be charged at your standard network rate. For Terms & Conditions, see www.easydonate.org.
