Every year, charities like us are missing out on £560 million pounds of unclaimed Gift Aid. Gift Aid is a government ran scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on donations made by a UK taxpayer, this means your donations will be worth 25% more to our rescue dogs at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the Gift Aid box, we're able to claim back 25p for every £1 you donate from the government - so if you donate £5 we can claim £1.25, for £10 we can claim £2.50 and for large amounts like £100 we can claim back £25. As you can imagine, this all adds up and can make a huge difference to what we do.

In order for us to be able to claim Gift Aid on your donation, there are a a few things we need from you:

  • You need to be a UK tax payer
  • The donation you make needs to be from your own money
  • Your full name and home address
  • And a tick in the Gift Aid box when filling out one of our income forms or when donating online

It's as simple as that!

To sign up to Gift Aid, please fill in our Gift Aid declaration form or simply tick the box when making a donation on our website. We can claim Gift Aid on donations up to 4 years old - so if you sign up today we can claim the money back from any donations you have made to us within the last few years.

How Gift Aid helps dogs like Dan ...

Unfortunately, Dan came into the care of our East Yorkshire centre and developed a tumour on his leg. Sadly due to its positioning, only part of the tumour could be removed by our vets. This meant that it is likely to grow back and will be more aggressive than before, and will therefore shorten his life.

Despite this, Dan was his usual happy, loving self and wasn’t in any pain - you’d never have known he was living on borrowed time. So our team set out to find him a home where he could spend the remainder of his days, however long or short they may be and put together a bucket list of activities for him to complete.

After a few months of searching, the perfect companion came along in June. As soon as June saw Dan, she knew they were a picture-perfect match. Like Dan, sadly June also has terminal cancer and was looking for a snuggly companion to support her and create memories with. This lovely lady knew she would be able to give Dan the home he deserved and cross off the most important thing on his bucket list – find a forever home.

We feel so lucky to have been been able to spend so much time with this handsome chap and we couldn’t be happier that he has found such a loving home where he can spend the rest of his days. From the generous donations given to us by the public and from Gift Aid declarations we were able to fund the the medical support Dan needed while he was in our care. Costs we would have struggled to cover otherwise.
