Jerry Green Dog Rescue

Vacancies

Jerry Green Dog Rescue employs full-time and part-time staff at its seven Dog Rescue Centres. There are three principal grades as follows:

  • Kennel Assistant: Responsible for caring for dogs from arrival in a Centre, through their time with us, to successful rehoming. Applicants must have a passion for dogs and a willingness to work often unsocial hours in all weathers. Professional qualifications in animal welfare and management are desirable.
  • Supervisor: Responsible for supervision of kennel staff, in addition to normal kennel duties. Previous experience in animal care is essential and supervisory experience is highly desirable. Our supervisors deputise for Centre managers and assist with rehoming procedures.
  • Manager: Each Centre manager has total responsibility for the operation of one of our Rescue Centres. Extensive experience in animal welfare, as well as previous supervisory or management experience is essential. Managers have considerable autonomy but are supported by a Head Office staff.

Voluntary Work

Jerry Green Dog Rescue recognises that many of our supporters may not be able to devote all their time to helping us in our vital work of rescuing stray and abandoned dogs and rehoming them, so we welcome those who may be able to help us in a voluntary capacity either regularly or simply when time permits:

  • Volunteer Walkers: All our dogs need regular exercise as well as social time and our Volunteer Walkers play a major part in this aspect of our work. Only adult (over 18 years) volunteers will be considered and induction training will be given to ensure the welfare of both volunteer and dog. All volunteers will be asked to indemnify Jerry Green Dog Rescue against any liability. If you are interested in volunteering please contact your local Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre.
  • Volunteer Welfare Officers: Before we rehome a dog, we need to be assured that its new home environment is suited to the particular dog and our Volunteer Welfare Officers carry out these essential visits. Once the Jerry Green dog is in its new home, our Volunteer Welfare Officers will again visit to follow up its welfare interests. Induction training for welfare officers is completed by each Rescue Centre. A car is essential and a motor mileage allowance is paid. Due to the nature of the work, all Welfare Officers must be experienced dog owners and again, only adults can carry out this work. If you can help, please contact your local Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre.

Special Dogs

All dogs are special but some are just more special than others. Sometimes a special dog may be a little older or may not look quite as attractive as others but they still needing caring and loving homes.
