About Us
It all began with Rusty.
Our founder Jerry Green was especially fond of his spaniel, Rusty, who died at the age of 14. It was this loss of this faithful friend which prompted his idea of a charity for dogs.
Aims and Objectives of Jerry Green Dog Rescue
Our aim first and foremost is to provide Rescue Centres throughout Britain to care for stray and unwanted dogs.
Objectives
- To care for and protect stray and unwanted dogs and place them in good homes where they are visited by our Welfare Officers.
- To care for any dog willed to us for the rest of its life, unless the owner wants it to be placed in a good home.
- To prevent unnecessary breeding and to reduce the number of unwanted dogs being born and often disposed of to doubtful sources. We vigorously support a policy of spaying on veterinary advice.
- To prevent the risk and spread of disease. All dogs coming into our care are fully inoculated.
- To report all cases of known cruelty and investigate where necessary.
- To campaign for the abolition of live animals being used for medical research.
- We will not put to sleep any animal unless it is certified to be incurably ill or unmanageably aggressive. Such action will only be taken by our veterinary surgeons humanely and painlessly.
- We aspire to acquiring and running further Rescue centres.
